Our first Tuesday at noon class

Our first Tuesday at noon class was a huge success. We had 8 people today! That didn't include the two new guys that were scoping the place out when I got there. They promised to come to Thursday's class ready to rock the place.

Today was all about double unders and hand stand push ups. Great job to Paul! Today was his very first CF workout. He chose the mainsite WOD even though he had never done hand stand push ups or kettlebell swings. Amazing!

Please welcome Miss Katlain to the team. "Katie" is Blood's oldest daughter; just home from college.

A huge shout out goes to Trinity for her first real kipping pull ups without a band. You so rock!

Sloan took a GPS out with him on his run today. If you run around the outside of the hangar and don't cut the corners, you'll have hit your 1/4 mile or 400 meters. Make those corners nice and wide, as we were just a small fraction short when you stick to close to the building.

Weekend of Painting/Cleaning

What an incredible weekend! CF Arctic looks awesome! Though, no one can call it 'Gucci,' as Col Routt would say. What is does look like is clean. Trey came over on Sunday and shampooed the carpet. The mats still need to be moved back in, but those were getting a scrub down also.

Thanks to the ROTC cadets from UAA, CE and all of the volunteers that made this weekend a success.

Thanks to whomever brought the beer for those of us old enough to drink.

Check out the picture of Col Routt in his attempted muscle up. Good Job!
We will soon have more equipment at our disposal. The 19th Fighter Squadron is shutting down this summer and we're going to pilfer some of their gym equipment. We also have equipment coming from Operation Phoenix, which is a non profit organization that helps military CF boxes equip their gyms. They weren't operational for a few months, but they are back up in running this month and have said we are on their list for supplies.
Life is an occasion, rise to it.

New Class Added

We're adding a 3rd class starting on April 27th at 12 noon. The afternoon class on Thursday is such a success, I'm going to add Tuesday at noon also. I usually get there around 11:30am for those that have a little earlier lunch time.

A huge shout out goes to those that practiced their hand stand push ups on Thursday. You are all so cool!

We had an awesome turnout on Thursday at the 12 noon class. People chose between 3 different WOD's, with some doing more than one. We usually post a good cardio workout and a weighted workout to help distribute the equipment. Thank you to whomever brought in the 33lb womens bar. That was a nice surprise. And, thanks to Sloane for his official olympic lifting bar.

We've had record turn outs the last two Thursdays, with at least 10 people each session.

A huge welcome goes out to Gordo who is home from his deployment in Guam. He said the best part about the gym is the bumper weights.

The energy in the gym yesterday was fantastic. We had some people that showed up early to get in a nice long run before the WOD. We had others that stayed after to work on their muscle-ups.

Everyone is excited about the face lift we're getting this coming weekend. A coat of paint is going to do wonders. Personally, I'm looking forward to the BBQ with no paleo friendly food. :)

Painting CF Arctic

Please join us at 1pm on Saturday, April 24th to paint our gym. We have all of the supplies, just show up with willing hands.

Thursday, April 1st Class

Huge milestone last Thursday! We had 8 people come to the 12 noon class. Everyone had 2 workouts to choose from that were not from the main CF website. It worked out for everyone to pair up and work with either Bryan, Rachel or Richelle.
Matt and David started off the morning strong. This was Matt's 3rd or 4th workout here at Arctic. He brought his boss, David, along with him to try it out. David totally rocked the workout and kept up with Matt, which was not an easy feat. Great job to you both!
Sharon and Christian started off the next heat. This was Sharon's 3rd CF workout. She was born for this stuff! She's also using her CF workouts to help get ready for her PT test, which is coming up in the next few weeks. Good Luck Sharon! Christian is recently home from his deployment in Balad where he did CF with Bryan. Welcome home! We're happy to have your energy and enthusiasm at CF Arctic.
Brandon and Adam worked with Bryan on the weighted workout, which they totally rocked. This was Adam's first CF workout. The man had the perfect CF attitude. He was doing dead hang pull ups during the workout. The last pull up proved to be a little much, but he stuck with it and got his chin over the bar after about 5 attempts. Impressive to say the least. Brandon is a UAA ROTC student and competed in the CF Sectionals this year. He totally rocked the workout and plans to join the Alaska CF Regional Affiliate team going to Washington in May. Good luck Brandon!
The last heat was kicked off by Nicole and Ken. Nicole is new to the gym and performed like a veteran. We hope to see her back next week! Ken (Chappy B) is probably our most energetic new recruit to CF. He's most proud of his newly developed double unders. Fabulous Job! Those take practice, which he does at 4:30am each morning.

A great job was done by all!
